The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has announced the composition of its executive board of directors for the period 2024-2025. Tata Steel CEO Thachat Vishwanath Narendra has been named chairman, while Colakoglu CEO Ugur Dalbeler and Nucor president Leon Topalian have been named vice-chairmen.
Mark Vassella, managing director and CEO of BlueScope Steel, will serve as treasurer, and Akihiko Inoue, authorized director and president of Nippon Steel Stainless Steel Corporation, will serve as chairman of worldstainless.
This council will guide the steel industry over the next year.
The Board of Directors also elected 17 members of the worldsteel executive committee for the 2024-2025 term. Among the executive members is the re-elected Alexey A. Mordashov, chairman of the board of directors of Severstal, a passive member of worldsteel.
In June 2022, Worldsteel reached a mutual agreement to voluntarily and temporarily include its Russian member companies as "passive" members. They do not participate in decision making and do not have access to meeting documentation or industry data through extranet membership.
