World crude steel production from the 65 countries reported by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) was 136 million tonnes in June 2015, down 2.4 percent from June 2014.
World crude steel production in the first six months of 2015 reached 813.0 million tonnes, down 2.0 percent compared to the same period in 2014. In the first half of 2015, crude steel production in the Middle East grew 2.9 percent, while North America and the CIS fell 6.9 percent. In Asia, steel output declined by 1.5 percent, while increased by 0.5 percent in the EU 28. In South America, production remained flat on an annualized basis.
China's steel production in June 2015 was 69.0 million tonnes, down 0.8 percent from June 2014. Japan smelted 8.6 million tonnes of crude steel in June 2015, down 6.2 percent year on year. Production in India was 7.4 million tonnes, up 0.8 percent on an annualized basis. The United States produced 6.7 million tonnes of crude steel in June 2015, decreasing yield by 8.5 percent from June 2014.
South Korea produced 5.9 million tons of crude steel, down 3.6 percent from June 2014. In June 2015, Russia produced 5.6 million tonnes of crude steel, down 7.5 percent compared to June 2014. Germany produced 3.8 million tonnes of crude steel in June 2015, increasing output by 5.8 percent year on year. Turkey's steel production in June 2015 was 2.8 million tonnes, down 4.5 percent on an annualized basis. Brazil smelted 2.8 million tons of steel in June 2015, which is 2.1 percent higher than in June 2014.
In June, Ukraine produced 2.0 million tons of crude steel, which is 21.8 percent lower compared to the same month in 2014. Italy produced 1.9 million tonnes of crude steel, down 11.4 percent, France 1.4 million tonnes, down 1.3 percent, Spain 1.3 million tonnes of crude steel, down 3 percent. 3 percent compared to June 2014.
