The Japan Aluminum Industry Association may consider developing common sectoral quality assurance guidelines if, following the quality control scandal that engulfed Japan's Kobe Steel Ltd, it receives requests from member companies to do so.
Mitsuru Okada, chairman of the Japan Aluminum Association, made the comment at a press conference in the Japanese capital.
Kobe Steel said Friday that discussions about a lack of proper quality control and a focus on profits were linked to the proliferation of data that sparked a scandal that shook vehicle and aircraft supply chains around the world.
