In the past year, significant progress has been made in the consumption of renewable energy. However, green energy is still a small but rapidly growing segment. To ensure a full transition to green energy, the use of certain metals will need to increase more than 10 times from what is currently used for renewable energy sources.
To do this, you will need to extract a huge amount of natural resources. To fully transition to a green economy, we will need huge amounts of metals such as copper, silicon, aluminum, lithium, cobalt, rare earths and silver. These are the raw materials that are fueling the green revolution.
These metals and minerals are essential for the production, storage and distribution of green energy. Without them, the reality is that technologies such as solar panels, wind farms, lithium-ion batteries, nuclear reactors and electric vehicles are simply not possible.
Solar panels need silicon and silver, while wind farms need rare earth metals, steel and aluminum.
Even nuclear power, which is the safest type of energy with fatalities and generates hardly any emissions, needs uranium to generate power.
There are not enough metals for green energy
