Czech billionaire Tomas Crenek is interested in buying from the ArcelorMittal plant in Ostrava. He is already a co-owner of a metallurgical plant in Trinec.
Czech media reported that the first meeting for the purchase of ArcelorMittal Ostrava took place. At the moment, however, there are no details.
Who is Chrenek? This 55-year-old businessman, according to Forbes magazine, is the 13th richest Czech. His property is estimated at 15 billion kroons. And the plant in Tršiniec is a significant part of it.
Why is ArcelorMittal selling a Czech steelworks? In early May, the European Commission agreed that the Ilva plant in Taranto be bought by a consortium of ArcelorMittal and Marcegaglia. However, the condition is that the steel tycoon sells some objects. Among the production facilities to be sold were factories in Italy, Romania, Macedonia, Czech Republic, Luxembourg and Belgium. One of them is the plant in Ostrava.
