Results of rolled metal production in Ukraine

For 11 months of 2018, Ukrainian metallurgists produced 16.84 million tons of rolled metal, which is 1% higher compared to the same period in 2017, of which 78.4% or 13.21 million tons were exported. In the corresponding period last year, the share of exports amounted to 79.7% of the total production of rolled metal 16.74 million tons or 13.35 million tons.

The share of semi-finished products in export deliveries for 11 months of 2018 accounted for 43.68%, which is slightly higher than the 42.25% indicator for the period January-November 2017. The volume of flat products in export deliveries for 11 months is comparable to the indicator for the same period in 2017 (34.85% and 34.11%, respectively), and the share of long products in supplies to foreign markets for 11 months of 2018 is slightly lower than for the same period. period of 2017 (21.47% and 23.64%, respectively).

For 11 months of 2018, Ukrainian consumers used 4,976.3 thousand tons of rolled metal, of which 1,346.3 thousand tons, or 27.1%, accounted for imports. During the same period in 2017, the domestic market consumed 4,672.3 thousand tons, of which 1196.3 thousand tons, or 25.6%, were imported. During 11 months of 2018, the growth in consumption of rolled metal in the domestic market amounted to 6.51% compared to January-November 2017 with an increase in imports (12.54%).

The structure of imports for 11 months of 2018 is characterized by a slight domination of flat products over long products (50.82% and 46.04%, respectively); in the same period of 2017, this dominance was much more significant - 56.86% versus 41.64%.

The main export markets for Ukrainian metal products remain the countries of the European Union (34.0%), Africa (16.6%), other European countries, including Turkey (13.1%) and the Middle East (10.7%).

Among the import suppliers for 11 months of 2018, the first place is occupied by the CIS (52.7%), the second by the countries of Asia (20.5%), and the third by the countries of the European Union (17.7%).
