Vietnamese manufacturers increase steel sheet exports to EU

At the end of last week, steelmaker Hoa Sen Group (HSG) exported 15,000 tonnes of steel sheets to the UK, Germany and Italy.

The steel sheets were exported from the Hoa Sen Phú Mỹ factory in the southern province of Ba-Ri-Wong Tau.

The company also announced the opening of a new factory for the production of galvanized steel pipes in the province.

Designed by its member company, the joint stock company Hoa Sen Phú M its, the plant was built on an area of ​​5.3 hectares in the Phú Mỹ 1 industrial zone in the province with a total capital of more than 500 billion won (22 million US dollars).

The plant has eight production lines equipped with the most advanced technologies in the world, with a total capacity of 85,000 tons per year.

Hoa Sen says the opening of the new plant will help the company fulfill its plan to diversify its products and meet increased domestic and foreign demand.

According to the company, hot-dip galvanized steel pipes are used in many construction jobs, such as fire suppression systems in buildings and factories, and lighting systems.

In another case, Hoa Sen reports that the company has invested in enterprise resource planning (ERP) for two years. This is the official application of the system for their production.

The system helps reduce costs and also operates 10 factories and more than 500 retail stores in the country.

Hoa Sen is a major steel producer in the country, with 34 percent of the domestic steel sheet market and 18 percent of the steel pipe market.

The company exports its products to 75 markets around the world. In the past year, despite numerous difficulties, the company achieved stable growth.

The company produced 639,000 tonnes of steel sheets, which is 37 percent of the sector's total production.

In fiscal 2017-18, the company's export revenue was $ 538 million, an increase of 27 percent year on year.
