ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih put into operation a new locomobile

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih has started using the new Unimog shunting locomotive in the work of the railway workshop No. 3. The company allocated about UAH 15 million for the purchase of a multifunctional wheel-rail tractor produced by the German company ZAGRO based on Mercedes-Benz. He is able to carry out many industrial operations aimed at cleaning and improving roads and railways. At the moment, the locomotive is performing a large amount of railroad work, replacing an entire diesel locomotive.

Training of the company's personnel to work with new special equipment was carried out at the end of last year with the help of German specialists in an online format. It is important to perfectly know the structure of the machine and all its functions, since it is a truly complex multitasking unit. The locomobile can be used as a truck tractor, and is also capable of maneuvering up to 10 wagons and a total weight of up to 1,000 tons. Moreover, its own weight is only 13 tons. The machine is equipped with a sweeping brush, a vacuum-sweeping vacuum cleaner for cleaning roads, a grass mower and a brush cutter. In winter, the Unimog is ready for retrofitting with a snow plow or auger.

Inside "ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih" there are more than 600 kilometers of its own railways. Order on the rails is not only aesthetics and the possibility of smooth operation, but also safety for railway workers. The locomobile is easy to operate - there are road and railways, an alarm system, a computer control system.

The company continues to systematically renew its railway fleet. It is planned that in 2021 all four new EffiShunter 1600 locomotives manufactured by CZ Loko (Czech Republic) will enter the line, for the purchase of which the enterprise directed 7.5 million euros. The first one has already been put into operation. One more locomotive is being prepared for the start of operation, which has already arrived at the enterprise.
