The capacity utilization rate was 79.0%, down 0.2% over the week, but up 24.4% year on year.
As of the week ending May 22, crude steel production in the United States this year was about 35.68 million short tons, up 8.7% from a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 77.6%, which is 7.7% more than a year earlier.
