According to reports, the Vijayanagara plant's steel capacity under Indian steel producer JSW Steel was slated to increase by 5 million tonnes per annum to 17 million tonnes per year by the end of the fiscal year ending March 2024.
The company announced that it will spend Rs 150 billion to expand its Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka. The plant is the largest steel mill in India.
Seshagiri Rao, Joint Managing Director and CFO of JSW Steel, said that as the epidemic slows down and vaccines become more readily available, demand for domestic steel in India will increase.
