Tokyo Steel Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which is based on a leading electric arc furnace in Japan, announced on Tuesday that it had raised its domestic prices for finished thick carbon steel plate by ¥ 5,000 per tonne. The updated price was 107,000 yen per tonne for July delivery, while prices for other steel products remained unchanged.
The price adjustment this time was driven by strong demand from Japanese shipbuilders, and the shipyards of neighboring countries, China and South Korea, are also fully booked to reduce the supply of heavy plate.
