Stainless steel fasteners for shipbuilding have risen in price

Нержавеющий крепеж для судостроения подорожал

Stainless steel fasteners for shipbuilding have significantly risen in price, which cannot but affect the efficiency of this sector of the Ukrainian economy.

Over the years, Ukrainian shipyards have developed as diversified industries (shipbuilding, mechanical engineering) with expensive fixed assets and unique equipment. You can get rid of this equipment. But is it not better to attract investors or obtain government funding, amend tax legislation and revive the products that the factories produced earlier: containers, spare parts for port handling machines and marine engines, grabs, stainless steel fasteners, hardware and rigging. This will increase the volume of production, save jobs, increase budget revenues, which will significantly exceed the amount of fines. In addition, it is necessary to study the issue of creating specialized industries at factories (foundry, blacksmith, replacement and spare parts; means of small mechanization, etc.) on the principles of intra-ministerial and interdepartmental cooperation.

The issue of maintaining the fleet in good condition in accordance with international conventions on safe navigation is very important. It is inconceivable without ship-lifting structures - docks. There are only a few of them in Ukraine. Most of the docks have been in operation for more than a decade, and in this regard, large financial investments are needed to ensure the safe repair of ships and preserve the docks.

Otherwise, Ukraine will have to bear huge foreign exchange costs for the repair of the fleet abroad. In addition, it is dangerous from a strategic point of view, since it threatens the dependence of the Ukrainian fleet, including the military and fishing, on foreign repair bases. It can be assumed that without solving the issue of overhaul of the docks in the near future, their number will sharply decrease, just as happened with the Ukrainian fleet. Almost no plant can carry out major repairs at its own expense, since, on the one hand, there are not enough depreciation charges, and on the other hand, there are no working capital. This problem can be solved through centralized financing and an innovation fund, or through lower taxes on profits and exemption from land tax, similar to Russia, where these funds are purposefully used to repair docks.

Most of the questions raised concern not only ship repair enterprises, but also other industries, they are not simple and are associated with changes in some legislative acts. But they are the main ones for us. And to solve them we need the help of the Ministry of Transport and the State
