Electrolux sets the goal of using processed steel

The Swedish manufacturer of household appliances Electrolux states that he intends to increase the share of processed steel and plastic for the weight used in the production of its products to 35% by 2030. This first adds steel to the target indicator and almost doubles the weight of processed materials compared to the previous indicator.

Steel and plastic are the two most used Electrolux material by weight. The addition of steel to the target increases the volume of material to more than 40% of all materials purchased by the group - about three times more than it was in the volume of the previous purpose, the company notes.

In 2024, carbon steel amounted to 37% of the procurement of Electrolux raw materials, and stainless steel - 12%. According to the annual report for 2024, in 2024 the company consumed a total of 633,000 tons, which is 8% more than in the previous year.

The company signed a preliminary agreement with the European Supplier for a more sustainable steel option, the first delivery is scheduled for the end of 2026. This steel will be produced using electricity from non -lean sources and green hydrogen instead of coal, the statement that does not disclose the name of the supplier says. Previously, Stegra called Electrolux one of its first customers.
