Recently in our state large domestic business increasingly closely cooperates with educational institutions of the country, striving to get potentially strong personnel immediately "from behind the parties." In the conditions of an acute shortage of both highly intelligent employees in science-intensive sectors of the economy and working specialties, such a pragmatic approach is fully justified.
Usually forms of cooperation between business and universities are divided into the following stages :
- Selection of the most talented young people, enrollment of selected young people for training in areas targeted for a particular company (often with the payment of personal scholarships).
- Formation of three or four target groups of students (starting from the 3rd year) for passing through target pre-production training for three semesters. Training is usually carried out in accordance with corporate programs at the expense of the enterprise.
- Assistance to students in obtaining blue-collar occupations during internships and during vacations. Selection of the best students (about 10%) and their admission to full-time jobs immediately after graduation.
- Conclusion between the enterprise and university students of agreements on mutual responsibility (including guarantees of providing a job).
- Selection of topics related to the problems of the sponsoring company for students to carry out their theses. Defense of theses with the participation of the main specialists of the enterprise.
It should be noted that the current education system (both in higher education and in the system of vocational education) does not prepare specialists for the operation of modern technological equipment. The biggest challenge is preparing ahead of business needs. To change the situation, it is necessary to strengthen the support of universities and vocational schools from the state (purchase of training simulators, creation of multimedia and educational videos, retraining and retraining of the teaching staff).
Continuing the topic of teaching youth, one cannot fail to mention the problem of reducing the quality of training for children in general education schools. Entrance exams to universities are conducted mainly in mathematics and the Ukrainian language, which has reduced the level of knowledge of students in the basic disciplines for production - physics and chemistry. It is necessary to start changes in the education system precisely from the secondary school.
Apparently, the moment has come when employers need to take decisive steps towards conducting an independent assessment of the quality and level of training in our universities. It's time to close the branches and departments of educational institutions that do not meet licensing requirements, to limit the training of specialists who are not in demand on the labor market.
