In Europe and Asia, similar material was created in the 70s of the last century. The feedstock was PVC, as well as linear polyethylene and EVA: copolymers of ethylene vinyl acetate. Over time, linear low-density polyethylene became the main source.
PVC stretch film is considered "breathable", that is, it allows air to pass through, therefore it is used for packaging various food products in order to avoid spoilage. So meat and bread products are stored for a long time and do not lose nutritional value, and remain visually attractive.
For the same purposes, packaging made on the basis of polyethylene is also used. Polyethylene stretch film is of two types. Food grade - thin, 6-12 microns in size, also preserves food, however, its shelf life is slightly shorter than that of a PVC-based film. But plastic and cheaper.

Packaging work is accelerated and simplified, warehousing and transportation becomes easier, the goods are stored flawlessly.
Stretch film can be wound manually or by machine using special equipment. These are the so-called stretch wagglers or pallet wrappers. Accordingly, the film on the market is already originally intended for manual or machine use.
