Nichrome is a ductile and durable alloy of nickel and chromium, characterized by increased resistance to corrosion. This alloy allows the presence of no more than one percent of impurities of other metals. Nichrome alloys are most often used in the production of resistance nodes, resistors and rheostats, and found the most widespread use of nichrome as a heating element in electrical equipment with increased reliability requirements. The wide scope of application of nichrome alloys is due to their heat resistance and excellent electrical resistivity characteristics.
The main type in which nichrome is produced by our industry is nichrome wire. When choosing such products, you need to know how its labeling is deciphered. For example, the presence of the letter "H" in the name of nichrome wire indicates its purpose for heating elements. The letter "C" will tell an experienced technician that such wire is best used for the production of electrical resistance elements. Wire marked as "heating element" should be used exclusively in tubular electric heaters.
The reliability of elements made of nichrome is determined by its corrosion resistance to aggressive media, strength and high yield point, which makes it possible to significantly reduce the diameter of the wire.
Perhaps for some, a rather high price for nichrome wire seems to be a disadvantage, but given the quality and durability of the finished product using nichrome, it will be the most acceptable.
