Steel 12X18H10T, most often called "food stainless steel", according to GOST 5632-72 is called "cryogenic structural steel". Everyone knows the fact that if the word steel is present in the name of the material, then we are dealing with an alloy of iron and carbon in certain proportions. Moreover, the name "structural" obliges manufacturers to provide at least 10% carbon in the final melt.
It is the further alloying of carbon steel that gives it such unusual properties for iron as a complete absence of corrosion and incredible resistance to temperature extremes ranging from -190 degrees to +600 degrees Celsius. The addition of chromium and nickel to the melt makes this miraculous transformation. The steel obtained as a result of such alloying can be used in the manufacture of apparatus and vessels operating under pressure, in the manufacture of pipelines through which nitric, acetic, phosphoric acid and their solutions, various alkalis and salt solutions are safely passed.
Steel 12X18H10T has found wide application in the pipe industry and especially in the food industry. 12x18n10t pipe is an irreplaceable material in the chemical and medical industries. Neutrality in relation to almost any chemical environment has brought these pipes to a leading position in the oil and gas industry.
