Modern wiring tester is a device for detecting breaks in electrical circuits of harnesses. Such bundles can consist of a large number of wires, so the main feature of these testers is the ability to simultaneously check a significant number (on the order of several hundred) contacts.
Also, devices of this type are equipped with digital control with the ability to connect to a computer. This makes it possible to store in the permanent memory of the tester not only several tens of harness “dialing” programs, but also to update them using a computer. To update the program, it is not at all necessary to have the knowledge and experience of a programmer, it is enough to have the skills of a PC user, because the preparation of the program is reduced to filling in tables. For this, the set together with the tester is supplied with the corresponding software for the computer on an electronic medium, for example, on a disk. The disk may also contain examples of how to populate the harness tables and other additional information such as examples of adapter adapters.
Adapters or, in other words, adapters are needed to connect different types of harnesses. Checking the harnesses with a tester itself is also not a complicated procedure, so ordinary installers can carry it out. When checking in the event of an open or short circuit, the tester shows the numbers of the connectors, as well as the contacts in these connectors or the connector where this defect is.
First of all, devices such as a wiring tester are needed at enterprises or firms whose activities are related to the manufacture of electrical harnesses for various equipment and equipment, where it is too laborious or impractical to use measurements with other devices.
