For solving the problems of industrial storage of liquid media, the vertical layout of the structure is considered the most successful. With this arrangement option, in contrast to horizontal arrangement, metal containers have the following advantages:
- the most efficient use of the working area in case of its lack;
- comfort when loading and dispensing liquid media;
- ease of installation and maintenance and operation;
- high resistance to snow load.
Design features of vertical metal tanks
Depending on the tasks and technological processes in which metal tanks are used, vertical metal tanks have several standard design solutions.
Tank type runway
It is a structure with a flat bottom and roof. This is the simplest and cheapest option to manufacture. It is used in almost all industries as a storage for liquid media.
Vertical tank type VKP
As with the previous version, the top surface is flat and is made of sheet material. The bottom, or rather the lower part, has the shape of a cone. This design is widely used in cases where products are dispensed by gravity, for example, on lines for the production of concrete mixtures.
Vertical tanks, type VEE
In containers of this design, the upper and lower parts have a convex shape. Such tanks withstand excessive internal pressure much better, but are rather expensive to manufacture because of the complexity in manufacturing a geometrically correct elliptical surface of the bottom and lid.
Metal containers such as VPE and VEP
These types represent combinations of the above constructs. Depending on the goals and objectives, either the bottom or the lid has an elliptical shape.
It should be noted that there are other types of vertical metal tanks, but they are quite specific in nature and have narrow areas of application. In particular, these include containers with a steam jacket, built-in heating elements or registers for heating or cooling.
