Nowadays, the link between health and indoor air seems natural. More daylight, fresh air, and reduced indoor air quality emissions from fossil fuels can be considered a recipe for wellness.
Green buildings generally have better indoor air quality than conventional homes. And this is achieved through the use of environmentally friendly finishing materials that do not emit toxic substances, a complex system of steel air ducts and renewable energy sources.
Passive buildings maintain a favorable microclimate in the room without the use of an active ventilation and heating system. The principle of the existence of such buildings is based on the use of air ducts that provide heat exchange ventilation. Outside, fresh air enters the ducts and, slowly passing through the pipes, is heated or cooled to the desired temperature. The building itself creates the optimal temperature, which is why it is called passive. During the construction of a passive building, great attention is paid to insulating materials and windows, the amount of which should be minimal.
A study by Michigan State University entitled "The Impact of Green Buildings on Health and Productivity" found that such buildings actually create a healthy work environment. Comparison of 12 conventional buildings and the same number of green and passive buildings showed that indoor air quality in environmentally friendly buildings was indeed better, and this was achieved thanks to a more advanced ventilation system, which also filters the air from dust and pollen that cause allergies.
