Kobe Steel, one of Japan's leading steel companies, has announced that the Kobelco Spring Wire (KSW) joint venture has begun operations in China. KSW started production of steel wire for high quality springs in the first half of 2013. KSW went into mass production of wire for springs after everything about them was studied and agreed with customers.
KSW was established in 2012 in Foshan, Guangdong province and is focused on the production and sale of steel wire in China and beyond. The company has a production capacity of 600 tons per month. 50 percent of the enterprise is owned by Kobe Steel represented by its subsidiary Kobelco Holding (China) Co Ltd, of which Mr. Hidenori Sakai is the president.
Kobe Steel produces about half of the global market for steel wire rod, the main material for steel wire production. It has earned high praise for its products in Japan, the United States and Europe. The presence of demand in China prompted Kobe Steel to establish KSW, its first overseas company to process wire rod into wire.
Kobe Steel is now forming two companies in Thailand, one in the United States and three in China, specializing in the process of recycling steel wire rod for suspension springs and fasteners. Kobe Steel, through its equity participation and production cooperation, strengthens its processing bases and builds up a global network for the supply of high quality special steel.
