Xenon is a very powerful light source. A xenon lamp was invented in Germany back in 1940. And they began to use it already in the 50s, the best use of the xenon lamp was determined for cinema projectors (carbon projectors became irrelevant). Such a lamp gives white bright light, reminiscent of daylight, with a low efficiency. Currently used xenon lamps with a power of both 900 W and more powerful, up to 12 or 15 kW.
Pros and cons of xenon
Positive qualities of xenon installation for a car can be considered:
- the life of a xenon lamp is much longer than a halogen lamp;
- the lamp does not heat up, hence the headlight glass too (it is good to apply to fog lamps to prevent damage to the glass during temperature changes);
- the headlights are less dirty. The glass does not heat up and no dirt remains on it, the headlights do not need to be wiped frequently.
Some negative aspects of using xenon lamps for car headlights:
- the price of blocks and lamps is high;
- if one lamp fails, two need to be replaced;
- "blinking" of the main beam headlights is undesirable, - adversely affects the operation of blocks and xenon lamps.
When xenon is needed
The most important element that guarantees safety while driving is high-quality road lighting at night, in foggy weather or in heavy rain, when visibility is limited and requires additional lighting.
So good lighting will protect and reduce eye strain (you don't have to stare). Conventional lamps do not provide the same viewing lighting as xenon, and halogen lamps do not always penetrate a foggy wall and may even be reflected in it.
Lamp types
The first manufacturers of xenon lamps were the Germans (Philips and Osram). And since 2000, Koreans have been added to their ranks. All manufacturers from Korea (Eagleye) make lamps based on German ones.
There are other manufacturers of xenon (lamps) with a base. Galaxy Company produces 6.000K and 8.000K xenon lamps, they shine differently and ignite with any ignition unit.
Set Contents
Xenon lighting installation kit consists of the following items:
- xenon lamps (2 pcs.);
- fuses (2 pcs.);
- ignition blocks (2 pcs.);
- parts to fix the blocks;
- wires;
- collection instructions.
Don't choose the cheapest kit: it's better to buy original optics with a guarantee.
Requirements for a car with xenon
Before installing xenon, decide which caps are used and which optics option is needed for this particular car (xenon or bixenon). If the car p
