Woolen fabrics are considered to be fabrics created from natural pure wool or mixed with other fibers - cotton, cottonized linen, artificial and synthetic fibers, metal threads. In this case, the percentage of wool fibers in the fabric should not be predominant at all, various options are allowed. For example, there are fabrics containing only 20-30% wool, the rest is accounted for by other fibers. But such a ratio does not interfere with calling such fabrics woolen, because they are made from woolen or worsted yarn, and exclusively at the enterprises of the woolen industry.
Woolen fabrics play a very important role in our life. After all, they are able to regulate the temperature regime of the space between the body and clothing. Note that wool fabrics are divided into three types depending on the method of production and the type of yarn: coarse, finely woven and worsted.
Coarse fabrics are made from thick (143-333 tex.) Machine yarn. According to the fibrous composition, such fabrics can be half-woolen or pure-woolen, that is, 100% made of natural wool, but in this case, it is still allowed to add other fibers (no more than 5%), for a more beautiful appearance of the product.
Finely woven fabrics are made from fine (50-100 tex.) Hardware yarn. Their distinctive feature is the pile covering, which covers the weaving pattern in whole or in part. The pile can be slightly or heavily pitted.
Worsted fabrics are made from combed yarn of single strand linear density 22.2-41.6 tex or twisted - 15.6 tex. x 2 - 41.6 tex. x 2. This type of fabric is distinguished by an open weave pattern.
In the manufacture of woolen fabrics, wool of the following types can be used: coarse, semi-coarse, thin, semi-fine, sheep, waste, skim, as well as camel, goat and reconstituted. Cottonized linen, cotton, as well as chemical fibers - nylon, viscose, nitron, polypropylene, lavsan, etc. are used as additional fibers.
Chemical fibers are not added by chance - they improve the properties of woolen fabrics, and at the same time reduce their price. For example, if you add 8-12% nylon fiber to a half-woolen fabric, then it will be twice as resistant to abrasion.
Most woolen fabrics are made using 3-4 components.
