The leader in the development of ultra high-strength steels, the Finnish company Ruukki, has been producing Optim structural steels since 2002. Ruukki's production program includes a wide range of special thin hardened structural steels. The latest addition to Ruukki's high-strength steel family is Optim 700. Ruukki has now expanded the range of thicknesses for high-strength steels. The Optim 700 QL is available in thicknesses from 6mm to 60mm.
The vice president of Optim & Raex at Ruukki said that “due to their excellent weldability, high strength and good toughness, Optim 700 QL steels are well suited for the needs of hoisting machinery and the mining industry. Typical applications include supporting structures in heavy earthmoving equipment and offshore cranes ".
Optim steels have good flatness properties and excellent surface quality. This makes them easy to machine and expands the possibilities of welded structures and components. Plus, Optim ultra high strength steels are easy to match with Raex wear resistant steels to provide an optimal structure for excavator buckets and similar wear parts.
In addition, Ruukki specializes in steel structures and profiles used in construction, the production of lightweight fences and racks, and produces thin-walled and pressure pipes. The company offers its customers energy-efficient solutions for movement and building façades. It has a retail network in 30 countries, including the Nordic countries and the emerging markets of India, China and South America.
