Striving for association and further integration with the European Union, Ukrainian metallurgical companies need to accept the rules existing in the EU. This is especially true for the issues of safe operation of equipment and the quality of products.
The CE (Сonformite Europeenne) mark was introduced to mark products that have passed the testing, certification procedure and comply with EU standards.
The presence of this mark indicates compliance with a number of directives developed for various products. CE is not a quality mark, but a conformity mark and aims to eliminate the boundaries and boundaries between technical norms and industry standards of different countries, and quality control is voluntary and is marked according to different regulations.
In metallurgy, CE standards are an important aspect, both for domestic trade and for export.
Metallurgical production must comply with the following directives:
- 2004/108 /EC MD - Machinery Directive
- 2006/95 /EEC - EMC Directive
- Low Voltage Directive2000 /14 /EC - low energy consumption
- 97/23 /EC - Noise pollution
- 87/404 /EEC - Pressure Equipment Directive PED
- 94/9 /EC - SPVD pressure vessels
- ATEX is a directive for work in potentially explosive atmospheres.
For metallurgy, CE certification or European conformity certification is certainly very important. The most commonly noticed directives are:
- EMC Directive 2006/95 /EEC
- MD - Machinery Directive 2004/108 /EC
- Low Voltage Directive (73/23 /EEC)
To be sure in accordance with the Directives, cooperation with such a European executive body as TÜV SÜD is necessary. This structure facilitates due diligence of the plant and equipment in accordance with the directives, as well as the analysis of documentation and the issuance of conformity marks.
Cooperation with TÜV SÜD contributes to improving product quality and expanding the boundaries of the metallurgy market, not to mention increasing the level of safety at work. Indeed, as a rule, all equipment uses high voltage, operates at high temperatures or pressures, and produces high noise levels that are harmful to both employees and the environment. It is to control such important technologies from all sides that inspecting and executive bodies have been created. If an equipment or tool is labeled with a gs cert (Geprüfte Sicherheit (GS)), it or it is considered safe to operate and use.
