Salzgitter Mannesmann Handel GmbH, a distribution subsidiary of Salzgitter AG, introduces a new product carbon footprint (PCF) calculation tool.
The group describes the tool as a calculation methodology in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and ISO 14067, identifying the CO2 footprint of the entire value chain. This allows Salzgitter Mannesmann and its subsidiaries to provide full transparency regarding the carbon footprint of the steel products they offer. After successful verification by TÜV SÜD, the calculation tool will be immediately presented to the market.
“The new PCF software solution calculates the PCF of a steel product, from raw material extraction to the customer’s factory gate – from cradle to customer’s gate,” says Tanja Jacobs, Head of Business Development at Salzgitter Mannesmann Handel. “The entire spectrum of greenhouse gases is taken into account and converted into CO2 equivalents,” adds Alexander Soboll, Managing Director of Salzgitter Mannesmann Handel.
