Galvanized steel wire - there is no alternative for today

Проволока стальная оцинкованная - альтернативы на сегодня нет

Galvanized wire is a very important element of any construction work. It has a very wide range of uses: from the creation of ordinary barbed wires, to use in gardening. But what are the advantages of galvanized wire versus conventional wire? We turned to professionals from Aviokon company for details. Here's what we found out.

The wire is used in almost any construction-related work. It has a small cross-sectional area, so it can quickly deteriorate and corrode. Galvanized wire can avoid such unpleasant consequences. Galvanizing itself is a very difficult stage in its creation. It is produced using several methods. The differences between these methods are in thickness, quality, production speed.

The first method is cold galvanizing. It consists in the mechanical application of priming compounds that contain zinc. This method is the most affordable and allows you to apply the material evenly and in the same thickness.

The second method is hot-dip galvanizing. This method is the most common and very high quality. The material is applied to the degreased, washed surface of the wire. The method consists in pulling a wire through a bath of molten zinc.

The third method is thermal diffusion zinc plating. It is one of the most difficult methods. The process occurs when zinc melts, when it turns into a gaseous form at a temperature of 2500-2700 degrees Celsius. Zinc atoms are attached to an iron wire. The coating turns out to be very even and with good protective performance comparable to hot-dip galvanizing.

There is also a hot-dip galvanizing method . The molten iron passes through the zinc gas streams, which is deposited on it. The zinc coating is uneven, so further varnish is required.

All four galvanizing methods are important and are used in specific industries. Therefore, if you decide to purchase galvanized wire, then think about why you need it? Suddenly, you can get by with ordinary iron wire. But most likely not, you won't.
