The growing popularity of metal panel fences from year to year has led to the growth of enterprises engaged in the production of mesh panels, poles and fasteners to them. Many companies of this type only produce welded panels from galvanized rods, and their painting is done by factories equipped with special painting equipment. Poles are also quite often ordered from third-party companies.
If we talk about the external differences between metal fences from a bar, then here it is necessary to mention such parameters as the color, diameter of the bar, the size and shape of the cells and the panels themselves. Of course, with a separate approach to the production of fences, problems may arise with the level of their quality, caused by the conditions of transportation and storage. Such defects are difficult for the non-professional eye to detect.
The main advice, of course, is to stop choosing products from full-cycle enterprises, but if this is not possible, you can get acquainted with the quality categories of such products and try to choose a fence in accordance with them.
- bar diameter of the panel,
- panel and cell geometry,
- panel stiffeners,
- quality of panel preparation for painting.
What problems are hidden in such a seemingly simple parameter as the diameter of a bar? It can be deliberately reduced in order to save material. There are cases when a bar with a diameter of 3.5 or 4.5 is actually used with a declared diameter of 5 mm or more. Wire 6 mm in diameter is often pulled to 4.5 mm.
It is clear that in this way the manufacturer receives significant savings, which is fraught with a decrease in the strength of the bar and the rapid development of "metal fatigue" in the event of additional mechanical stress on the fence. Since the bar is drawn in an already galvanized form, in the process of such exposure, the thickness of the coating decreases. This means that the bar will last less and lose its original appearance faster.
Sometimes manufacturers save on the purchase of new equipment by making panels of metal fences using Soviet-era machines or cheap Chinese units. Here the problem may lie in the inability to keep within the stated time frame. Upon receiving an order, such a manufacturer will work on it for several months longer. And besides, it is impossible to create a modern aesthetically attractive structure of a fence on outdated equipment.
Another trick of some manufacturers is panels without stiffeners. What does this mean for subsequent exploitation? This means that the strength indicators of the fence will be reduced. In general, the rib should consist of at least three rods. Here they talk about the top, bottom and middle. Even reducing this amount, you cannot get a reliable metal structure.
The service life of a fence is highly dependent on the quality of its coating, so pre-painting preparation is very important here. The minimum amount of such treatment consists of rinsing with demineralized water and drying. If at this stage the technology was violated, then corrosion may appear after six months of operation of the fence. High-quality preparation of metal elements for painting includes 9 stages of alternating rinsing and drying, as well as applying a special protective layer.
