Stainless steel has anti-corrosion properties and is therefore used in many applications. One of the areas of application has become household appliances, tools and equipment. If you look closely at your apartment, you will notice that many things in it are made of stainless steel - dishes, decorative elements of furniture, cutlery, kitchen sinks, razor blades and two-compartment refrigerators . This also applies to the equipment - the drum of the washing machine and the inside of the microwave oven are also made of stainless steel.
In household production, rolled metal is used for the manufacture of filter parts and elements that are needed for the assembly of pipes and corners of the furniture frame. But, for example, sheets of aluminum, stainless and other types of steel are used for the manufacture of cladding for large household appliances, food foil and dishes.
The use of steel in the manufacture of refrigerators
The body of the refrigerator performs the functions of a supporting structure, and it is produced from steel sheet, which has a thickness of 0.1 to 0.6 mm. Stamping and welding helps to make a steel sheet for refrigerator doors with a thickness of 0.8 mm (for example, Vestel refrigerators). As a rule, the material for the manufacture of refrigerators must have magnetic properties. Thanks to these properties, the door seal works smoothly. When transporting the refrigerator, it is necessary to use a plastic film that will protect the outer surface of the refrigerator from stainless steel.
If we compare the thickness of a sheet of steel in refrigerators and a washing machine, then in the latter, its width, as a rule, is twice the above indicators. In most cases, the cabinet for the washing machine is made of aluminum sheet, which is about 1.5 mm thick.
It should be noted that small household appliances are coated with paints and varnishes or polymer materials, because they are made from inexpensive carbon steel.
