Pipe benders make it easy to work with piping. Used at construction sites and during repair work. The machines work with pipes of different diameters and materials.
Pipe benders are devices that allow you to bend pipes of different diameters. We will tell you about the design of the machines and their types. You will also learn how they work.
We have all seen a pipeline at least once in our life, which is a system of pipes of various diameters. They can be bent or straight.
Such elements are usually manufactured in special factories. During construction and repair work, a pipe bender is used.
It is effective when crafted:
- fences;
- frame constructions;
- simulators;
- swing;
- furniture;
- motorcycles and cars.
Pipe benders of modern production allow to bend a pipe maximum 180 degrees, provide work with pipes that have a diameter of 5 to 150 mm, are capable of bending aluminum, copper, steel and other materials.
The principle of the machine
The pipe bender is a T-shaped frame, at the base of which there is a transmission lever. It activates the shoe, and with it also the support structure for the profile, which is located on the crossbar.
The pipe is securely clamped between the stops, and the shoe, which is set in motion by pressing the lever, bends the pipe in the indicated direction.
Bending the pipe requires great physical effort. To facilitate the operator's work, the units are equipped with a hydraulic drive. They can be stationary or manual and allow bending of huge diameter pipes without any physical effort. In addition to hydraulic drives, electric motors are also used.
For work with small diameters, machines with an open frame are used, which are not as reliable. They can cause material to run off, posing a hazard to the worker.
Closed-frame attachments are more expensive but safer. Their design prevents the metal profile from slipping off.
Certain types of pipe benders are designed to bend different materials (steel, copper or aluminum).
There are also fixtures:
- with a closed or open frame;
- hydraulically driven;
- manually operated.
For the bending method, there are crossbow, spring, mandrel and segment machines. The spring tube bender is used for non-deformation bending, thus plastic pipes are manually bent. The crossbow machine works using a special shape, and in the segment one the tube is bent under a certain segment.
Equipping hydraulic machines with electric motors will allow you to work more productively with pipes of large diameter. In addition, there are specialized and universal pipe benders.
Universal can work with devices of any diameter. Such a device is equipped with segments, each of which is designed for a different diameter.
There are stationary and portable devices. The former can weigh about 50 kg and are easily transported in the trunk of a car. Mobile machines for large diameter pipes weigh much more and are transported by trucks.
The use of a pipe bender is possible without special knowledge or skills, you just need to operate the lever.
Intervesp Corporation offers a huge selection of pipe benders at competitive prices.
