Today in Berlin, the heads of Shanghai Electric Group, Huaneng Power International and Siemens, in the presence of Chinese President Xi Qin Ping and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
Under the new agreement, the three parties will strengthen their long-term cooperation in the most advanced development of state-of-the-art gas turbine power plants, modernization and reconstruction of steam turbine generators and wind turbines.
“We can see that our cooperation with China has been successful in recent years. The strategic agreement with Huaneng Power International will be the next step in our relationship, ”said Siemens President and CEO Joe Keizer. “Together with our longtime partner Shanghai Electric, we have been looking forward to taking our cooperation with Huaneng to the next level,” he added.
Through joint efforts, Huaneng goes to further improve the efficiency of power units, drive energy conservation, support the development of clean energy and achieve sustainable economic performance.
Huaneng Power International is mainly engaged in investment activities in the construction, operation and management of power plants throughout China. As one of China's largest electricity producers, the company owns power plants located in 19 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China. The first business ties between Huaneng and Siemens began in the early 1990s with the installation of Siemens power units at Fuzhou and Hanfeng power plants.
