Almost everyone will agree that today we live in a very interesting, eventful time. IN many respects. These are numerous scientific and technical developments, including such “high-profile” projects as the Large Hadron Collider, and those that are used in everyday life at various enterprises, for example, floating pumping station or diesel generator. Who would have thought at the beginning of the 20th century that trains would travel at a speed of 300 km /h, and that it would be possible to get from the capitals of different countries, located at a sufficiently large distance from each other, from one to another, in just a few hours? Moreover, not by air, but by land. Or even underwater!
Of course, with the development of technology, life has become much more comfortable. Compare at least modern youth and the older generation. I think many people still remember the days when there were no mobile phones, computers and the World Wide Web. Imagine you want to make an appointment with a friend. Call your home phone, no one answers. You have to get dressed, go to his house, and if no one opens, then sit and wait at the entrance. Of course, you can ask your neighbors to pass on “such and such”, but this is not the most reliable option. Probably, at that time, in general, people were more responsible. We agreed to meet - you must definitely come, and if possible - without long delays. There is no way to warn you that you are late, so almost everyone tried to be punctual.
On education
One more example. Let's say you are a student of one of the prestigious universities in Moscow or St. Petersburg. Of course, in order to receive a scholarship and please your parents with your success, you have to study a lot and hard. How was knowledge “obtained” before? In the literal sense of the word - they were mined. The student had to travel in the evenings after classes or on his legal weekends to the central library and sit there for books until closing time. The abstracts were written by hand, in calligraphic handwriting. But if you really remember, then forever.
What about now? Asked to read "War and Peace" - no problem, open the browser in your smartphone, search for and download the required version. The abstract can be typed on a computer and simply printed. Inveterate lazy people generally manage to "write" a unique work, composing from several strangers, laid out in the public domain. It is for this reason that many methodologists oppose the computerization of teaching. But, you see, the Internet provides huge opportunities that simply need to be used correctly.
