The electric motor is the most important element of any modern production. It is impossible to imagine any industrial complex without dozens or even hundreds of electrical machines. The performance of machines and assemblies depends on the quality of performance and reliability of the electrical machine (engine). And this, in turn, determines the stability of production volumes and the absence of unexpected failures in production.
In the modern industrial world, electrical machines, both direct and alternating current, are widely used. We asked the specialists of JSC Sarapul Electric Generator Plant to tell about some of them.
Electrical machines
DC machines are used wherever it is necessary to control the speed and force on the machine shaft. They are more complex and heavier for the same useful power.
AC motors are more common because of their simplicity and reliability. The lion's share of AC motors are asynchronous machines with a rigid connection of the shaft speed to the frequency of the supply medium.
Such motors are used where a stable shaft speed is needed: ventilation fans, working tools, liquid pumps, etc.
It is these motors that can be made with a high degree of protection - i.e. practically sealed - this is due to the peculiarities of their design.
Explosion-proof electric motors
Explosion-proof electric motors are explosion-proof motors. They are used in case of danger of the presence of flammable gases and mixtures. The entire electrical part is hermetically sealed from the environment and ignition due to sparks or current discharges is excluded.
Asynchronous explosion-proof electric motors are simply irreplaceable in the chemical industry. They are also used in oil and gas production. These electric machines are very reliable, have high load capacity, high efficiency and low operating noise.
A wide range of operating temperatures allows them to be used both in hot regions of the South and at low temperatures in the North.
Explosion-proof electric motors must be selected according to the required power, torque on the shaft, supply voltage and the method of fastening the machine. You also need to pay attention to weight, noise, vibration. The latter is unacceptable in many areas of technology.
The weight of the car, the quality of the paintwork and a pleasant appearance also play an important role.
Only qualified personnel are required to install and connect motors.
