Electrode is a word that is familiar to many, but not everyone knows its meaning. So, it is customary to call an electrode an electric current conductor, and it is also part of analytical and chemical measuring instruments. The scope of application of this item is quite wide, but most often it is used in the process of welding, that is, it is necessary in production, in auto repair shops, at construction sites.
The electrochemical industry cannot do without electrodes. In electrochemistry, electrodes 1, 2 and 3 kinds are classified. In each of these genera, several species can be distinguished, which differ in the following characteristics:
- according to the material used for the manufacture of the electrode;
- by form;
- depending on the operating conditions;
- by size;
- hydrophilicity;
- porosity.
With the help of a conductor placed in an electrolyte or gas, metals can be obtained or purified, electroplated, electroplated.
As a conductor, an electrode is used as a structural element. This type of electrodes is used in electroencephalography, welding, or used as an oven. Among this type of electrodes, the most common is the welding one. The connection of individual parts of the structure by welding allows you to make the structure as strong and reliable as possible, and the connection point differs little in terms of external characteristics from the main part.
Welding electrodes are classified into metallic (those that melt and those that don't) and non-metallic (they don't melt). To obtain a high-quality weld, it is necessary to accurately select a specific type of electrode, since each specific metal has its own type of electrode. The quality of the weld is largely dependent on the electrode coating. There are the following types of metal coatings: acidic, basic, cellulose, rutile, mixed.
