The latest report released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), an association of North American steelmakers, noted that US steel shipments rose 2.4 percent in July 2014 from the previous month. US steel mills shipped 8,492,744 tons in July, up 2.4 percent from a total shipments of 8,291,823 tons in June this year, according to AISI. Steel products that had a significant change in maritime traffic during July compared to the previous month include hot-rolled sheets (up 3 percent), galvanized sheets and strips (down 0.4 percent), and cold-rolled sheets (up 0. 2 cents).
