In Uzbekistan, the management of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine, located in the city of Navoi, has decided to expand production capacity by commissioning an additional melting furnace for copper production. The plant explains its decision by the need to implement the state program to improve the energy efficiency of production and improve the environmental situation in the country.
In total, 97 million 700 thousand dollars were allocated for the implementation of the project for the construction of a new furnace within the framework of the plant, while the cost of the construction itself was determined at 89 million 600 thousand dollars based on the results of the tender. This amount also includes the purchase of locally produced materials necessary for the construction. It is known that the construction will be carried out on a turnkey basis. It is planned to complete the work in full within two years, and in September 2016, the furnace should produce the first tons of finished products.
The management of the enterprise is confident that the introduction of an additional smelting furnace will significantly increase the volume of copper production, as well as increase labor efficiency through the use of modern technologies that reduce the cost of production.
It should be reminded that Almalyk MMC is currently one of the largest producers of non-ferrous and precious metals in the country and in the world. The MMC product range includes copper, molybdenum, zinc, gold and silver, and chemical products.
