Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works starts selling social facilities

Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine starts selling social facilities, Maxim Lapin, Director for Business Development and Efficiency Management of MMK, told Itar-Tass. According to the explanation of the company's management, the business of the plant is ferrous metallurgy, to which all funds and efforts should be directed.

The priority tasks are to increase the level of energy efficiency of production, reconstruction of outdated equipment, opening of new lines more which will be announced additionally. Therefore, the finances raised from the sale of a number of social facilities will be used specifically for these purposes. By the way, as early as next month, competitive procedures will be held for the implementation of a number of recreational and entertainment complexes - a water park, a Berezka rest house, an OK Abzakovo and a Metallurg sanatorium.

According to Maxim Lapin, no social programs at the enterprise will be cut. Financing of recreational activities for the plant's employees will be carried out in the same amount.

According to MMK's management, there is no urgent need to complete the transaction, all facilities are operating normally and there is time for a thoughtful and balanced search for a new owner, with whom they will definitely establish interaction on social and personnel policy. The correspondent's interlocutor emphasized that the key position of the MMK management is the search for a competent and professional new owner.

It should be noted that this is not the first case of the disposal of the plant's assets; in 2011, the enterprise has already put up for sale a number of non-residential properties.
