Taiwanese manufacturer Feng Xin has decided to cut rebar prices by $ 50 per tonne starting September 22. The purchase prices for steel scrap will be reduced by $ 800 per ton. However, the company decided to keep its long steel prices unchanged over the coming weeks.
According to the company's press release by Feng Xin, the average prices for the entire range of valves will be reduced to $ 17,400 per tonne. Bar steel prices will continue to range from $ 19,700 per tonne to $ 19,900 per tonne.
The purchase price of scrap steel was cut by $ 800 per tonne to an average of 9,300 per tonne during the week. The company has kept the price of its rebar unchanged over the past few weeks. The fall in import prices for ferrous scrap forced the companies to cut their scrap purchase prices.
In addition, steel prices in Shanghai continue to decline this week. This includes pig iron, rebar, wire rod, CR and HDG and all other steel products, which are showing negative trend this week in the physical steel market in Shanghai in China. However, there are signs that steel demand in China may improve in the short term.
