Vallourec, a world leader in premium tubular products, has begun deliveries for the construction of a pipeline in the offshore Aegina region operated by Nigeria's Total Upstream. The Aegina field is located 130 kilometers off the coast of Nigeria at a depth of 1,750 meters.
The field is under development and production is scheduled to begin at the end of 2017. Vallourec began supplying its first pipes for the construction of a subsea pipeline. The company's total offshore project package is 24,000 tons, of which 16,000 tons of tubular products will be used for water injection and as production lines for gas export. The remaining 8,000 tons of seamless line pipes will go to the structure's riser.
Vallourec also supplies flow lines for Bell Oil & Gas, a Nigerian oil and gas company. As part of the Nigerian Development Program, Vallourec provides training courses for young Nigerian engineers in pipe production and applications. Thus, Vallourec complies with the Nigerian requirements associated with this project.
Dominic Richardot, Director of the Vallourec Pipe Project, said that “We are honored to be involved in the development of this challenging offshore field and demonstrate the Group's leadership position by providing the solutions and services needed to ensure the successful development of projects in the most challenging environments. We are providing training for the Nigerian workforce and also contributing to the development of local staff to support this project. ”
