Blast furnace N1 of the Donetsk Metallurgical Plant was re-launched due to the resumption of raw materials supplies. This allowed the Donetskstal group to resume the production process at the plant, which had been idle for about two months. According to a message spread by the press service of the metallurgical holding, one of the furnaces of the plant was blown out on October 10, 2014, having previously stopped working, being left without pellets.
The press service of Donetskstal notes that today the first batch of pig iron ingots from the long-awaited raw materials delivered to the factory warehouses came out of the blast-furnace shop of the enterprise. The next two pellet routes are expected to arrive from day to day. The management of the plant is negotiating with one of the ore mining and processing enterprises to fine-tune the supply of raw materials to Donetskstal, with the intention of starting the operation of the second blast furnace a little later.
As a side note, the Donetsk Metallurgical Plant has two blast furnaces, each with a working space of 1033 cubic meters. m. The furnace cooling system is equipped with thermostats, which are described in more detail here . Until recently, both blast furnaces were forced to stand idle for about two months, from the end of July and throughout August due to an acute shortage of iron ore raw materials. The delivery of raw materials was abruptly cut off after the failure of the railway tracks. In addition, at the same time, during the next artillery attack, the high-pressure gas pipeline was distorted.
