The Chamber of Commerce, in coordination with the Brazilian Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade, announced the final decision to impose an anti-dumping duty on seamless carbon steel pipes imported from China. Thus, the supplies of Chinese-made bronze pipe remained unaffected by the new restrictions.
The anti-dumping duty will apply to all seamless steel pipes with an outer diameter of more than 3 mm and up to 141.3 mm, regardless of other parameters such as wall thickness and inner diameter. The duty will be valid for five years at $ 908.59 per ton. The authorities said that products that are included in the list of customs statistics will be subject to an anti-dumping duty.
The Brazilian government launched an AD investigation against the dumping of steel pipes from China based on a complaint filed by the Brazilian steel pipe manufacturer, Vallourec, in November 2013. The Brazilian division faces stiff competition from Chinese imports at a loss. Brazilian production is designed mainly for the domestic market for use in transport and agricultural technology, civil engineering and railway bridges, mining and pressure cylinders.
Vallourec offers a range of premium pipes designed to withstand the harshest temperatures and pressures. The company's solutions help solve energy efficiency problems. Vallourec is a leader in the production of seamless steel pipes for the power, oil and gas, industrial, construction and automotive industries.
