Novelis, a leading manufacturer of rolled aluminum and a global leader in beverage cans, has announced that it will recycle and convert all of its cans products. The move is intended to support the industry's transition to a high proportion of recycled aluminum.
Novelis claims that by the end of 2017, the company will be producing the world's first certified products made only from recycled aluminum in beverage cans. All produced beverage cans will be converted during production to Evercan. In addition, the company plans to increase the proportion of recycled materials in its products to 80 percent by the end of 2020.
The company announced that it is committed to working with other manufacturers to help them switch to recycled materials. Novelis encouraged the entire beverage can industry to make more use of recycled materials in production flows. The company also stressed the need to increase the rate of recycling from consumers. Phil Martens, CEO and President, Novelis said the company is ready to help other aluminum producers by sharing knowledge by creating source platforms.
The equipping of Novelis production units in North America, Europe, South America and Asia now allows the production of Evercan sheets at prices on the same level as sheets for standard cans. The sheets are certified and contain 90 percent recycled materials, according to Novelis Inc, an industrial aluminum company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
