Avebury Nickel Mine will start mining

MGM Limited, which owns the long-idle Avebury nickel mine in western Tasmania in Australia, is planning to reopen it. The company is now at a critical juncture on this journey ahead of production.

The company plans to resume operations at the Avebury closed nickel mine between March and June 2015. The process of removing traces of arsenic from the nickel mine was difficult and took a month. The methods employed were furthermore costly for the company. While the presence of arsenic was not a problem for the security organizations of the local community groups living near the site, it did create anxiety for the Chinese company.

Doug Dow, chairman of the company, was rather reticent about the mine's outlook and declined to divulge any additional information regarding the matter, but added that the company expects to make a metallurgical breakthrough in nickel mining.

He said the company was still awaiting definitive scientific confirmation to determine the company's chances of extracting nickel ore. The company's products are expected to appear in the next six months, creating 200 new jobs for people in the area. The chairman of the company said they are happy to be able to provide jobs for the unemployed, fulfilling the promise made to the government to create permanent jobs.
