Zaporizhstal increases shipments of steel products by water transport

During the navigation period of 2014, the metallurgical plant Zaporizhstal shipped 850 thousand tons of steel products to consumers through the ports of the river basins of Ukraine in Zaporozhye, Nikolaev and Kherson. In addition, most of the plant's metal products, over 700 thousand tons, or 82 percent, were supplied to consumers from the Zaporozhye river port. In 2013, river ports dispatched only 509 thousand tons of the plant's products.

The cooperation of the metallurgical plant with the Zaporozhye river port was resumed in October 2012. In total, over the past period of joint work with the Zaporozhye river port, 1.2 million tons of the plant's products were shipped to consumers. The supply of rolled products for export through the river ports of Ukraine reduces the delivery time of goods to consumers by 15-20 days, due to the efficiency of logistics.

In 2014, Zaporizhstal carried out 50 percent of the total volume of export deliveries along the river route. In 2014, the metallurgical plant supplied its products from Ukrainian ports to 17 ports of destination in 5 European countries, such as Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Austria, as well as Turkey.

At present, when transport links in Ukraine are interrupted or difficult, a difficult situation is emerging with the timely delivery of products to customers. Nevertheless, thanks to the close cooperation of Zaporizhstal with Ukrrichflot, namely, with the Zaporizhzhya river port, it is possible to organize a stable delivery of steel products to their destination without delays.
