The Brazilian government is imposing anti-dumping duties on seamless steel pipes imported from Ukraine and China, according to the official publication of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council, Camex.
Thus, the Brazilian government is protecting its only domestic producer, Vallourec & Mannesmann, one of the world's leading steel pipe manufacturers, which produces seamless hot rolled steel pipes and tubes used in the automotive, construction, engineering, oil and gas industries.
The final anti-dumping tariff on imports of seamless steel pipes from Ukraine is $ 155.80 per ton. In accordance with the Decree of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council No. 106, duties are applied to pipes of two branches of the Ukrainian Interpipe group, namely Interpipe Niko and Interpipe NTZ.
These products, as well as core drills , are used for the development of oil and gas fields and the construction of oil and gas trunk pipelines, adds a notice. The obligation concerns the tonnage of imports during the year until the end of September. The export of these pipes from other Ukrainian sources is also subject to a duty, in accordance with Resolution No. 106.
Last month, Brazil announced its final decision on anti-dumping duties on imports of certain types of seamless pipe from China, effectively cutting off the last remaining flow in the country's seamless pipe market from Chinese suppliers. The country has now imposed four sets of duties to protect its only domestic manufacturer, Vallourec & Mannesmann, from competition.
