Metalloinvest renews MGOK's license until 2034

Metalloinvest announced the renewal of its subsoil use license for the Mikhailovsky GOK mining operations in the Kursk region, Russia. The license was extended by the Subsoil Use Department for the Central Federal District and is valid until December 31, 2034. Previously, the license was granted before January 1, 2016.

Mikhailovsky GOK extracts and refines iron ore and is the second largest complex in Russia. The plant is located in the city of Zheleznogorsk and produces iron ore concentrate and sinter ore. MGOK has the largest proven iron ore reserves in Russia.

Recently, Metalloinvest completed the reconstruction of the main conveyor (M-1) of the crushing and processing complex at Mikhailovsky GOK, almost doubling its transport capacity to 5,000 tonnes per hour. As part of the conveyor reconstruction program, the rail beams were replaced and the building structures were reinforced. This stage is part of a long-term investment project that should ensure an increase in the annual concentrate production capacity at MGOK to 17.9 million tons.

Now work is underway to automate the conveyor in order to ensure the safety of the process and increase its utilization rate, thereby increasing the efficiency of the entire crushing and concentration production. As a result, the instrument control will increase to 300 points, which will provide the most complete picture of the operation of instruments, drives, bearings and oil lubrication. The next stage of modernization provides for the reconstruction of conveyors M-23 and O-2, and later the turn of conveyor thread No. 2: K2-M2-M11-O1 will come.
