The Jaguar XE was recently launched in Europe. Novelis Europe Auto, a subsidiary of American aluminum company Novelis, has announced that the new Jaguar XE is the first mid-range model to use aluminum heavily for its body structure.
The car's structure is made from the Novelis Advanz 6000 series of alloys, which were developed by the company, especially for car sheet material, as well as the structural part of vehicles. The new material for the Jaguar XE will make the car stronger and also significantly lighter in weight, which contributes to the car's fuel efficiency and reduces vehicle emissions.
Vice President and CEO of NOVELIS Europe Auto, Pierre Labat, said the company has been selected as the supplier of aluminum sheets for the Jaguar XE to provide the new vehicle with lighter weight and higher strength.
He also said that the launch of the XE is once again restoring the lead for Jaguar Land Rover, which is also important in the production of aluminum high-volume vehicles. He added that this fact can be considered an important milestone for the company in the production of various bodies of transport equipment, and there is also a possibility of revision of the use in existing classes of cars.
The Jaguar XE will arrive in Europe in 2015 and then arrive in North America in 2016.
