According to the latest statistics released by the World Steel Association, steel production from 65 countries was 130.525 million tonnes in November 2014, unchanged from production in the same month last year.
The total steel production of the EU-28 countries in November 2014 was 14.256 million tons, down 0.8 percent compared to November 2013. Other European countries produced 2.985 million tonnes of steel, decreasing output by 8.0 percent over the previous year. Steel production in the CIS countries decreased by 3.9 percent to 8.308 million tons. Total steel output in North America rose 2.4 percent to 9.727 million tonnes in November 2014.
Total steel production in the South American region during November 2014 increased by 2.7 percent to 3.754 million tonnes. African countries smelted 1.215 million tonnes of steel, down 13.2 percent from November 2013 production. The total steel production in the Middle East in November this year was 2.476 million tons, up 11.6 percent over the previous year. Asian steel production increased by only 0.6 percent to 87.181 million tonnes. Oceania reduced production by 14.8 percent to 0.390 million tons in November.
