Iran to build a metallurgical plant in Oman

Iran plans to build a large iron smelting plant at Al Dadm in Oman with over $ 4 billion in investments proposed by several investors.

Mohammad Reza, Iranian Minister of Industry, said the plant will receive metal from natural raw materials that are mined in the rocky mountains of Oman at high temperatures in closed furnaces using local limestone and coke. Iranian companies will also work with the Omani railway company to build a rail line that will help export the metal to other countries.

The minister, speaking at the Iranian goods exhibition in Oman, said: “Our five companies specializing in railways and locomotive manufacturing are present at the exhibition and will work closely with Oman. We must define our plans for the next five years. We must provide sea transportation to improve our trade links, as the sea distance between the ports of Iran and Oman is shorter. It is also planned to cooperate in the production of ships. " An action plan for the next five years will be adopted at a joint meeting between Oman and Iran, which will be held at the Grand Hyatt.

More than 100 Iranian companies are represented at the exhibition, covering various product segments, including handicrafts and machine-made products, household appliances and interior decoration, food and pharmaceutical products, metal products and petrochemicals, energy and industrial equipment, building materials and information and communication technologies.
