EVRAZ supplied 100 meter rails for the metro

EVRAZ dispatched the first batch of 100 meter R65 head hardened rails for the Moscow metro railroad. The rails produced by EVRAZ ZSMK were recently installed on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line, which connects Kievskaya and Slavyansky Boulevard stations. On this section, for the first time in history, 100 meters long rails are used for a railway in an underground transit system of international level.

Previously, for the construction of the metro, rails with a length of 25 meters were used, which were welded in a whip of 125 meters long, and then laid on the way. The use of 100 meters of rails will simplify the welding process, since the number of joints in the railway is significantly reduced, and maintenance is also simplified. In addition, trains will run on safer, smoother tracks, with less noise, which should certainly improve the conditions for passengers.

Ilya Shirokobrod, EVRAZ vice president of sales, said that “the new track has much better durability in heavy traffic in the Moscow metro, which will help reduce road maintenance costs. the most common reason for replacing rails will help reduce maintenance and improve safety. "

EVRAZ is the only company in Russia that has received a certificate allowing the supply of 100 meter rails to consumers. Last year Evraz delivered the first 100 meter rail to Russian Railways. Recently, EVRAZ ZSMK completed the certification of the HH350 low temperature rails.
